the mother of top 10 lists

life is to be categorized and pondered as much as it is to be lived. without any reflection of what we are doing and experiencing, life is merely a series of fleeting events in time with no value except at that singular moment.

naturally, the best and only method to place any semblance of order in life is by way of top 10 lists. only a top 10 list can provide deep insights into a person's soul in so few words; their magnificence is only matched by their brevity. with that in mind, this space is not strictly limited to top 10 lists, but other nuggets [no, not butt nuggets] of wisdom as well.

the following inaugural list's topic has caused a riotous stir for numerous generations. i'm pretty sure nations have gone to war over this subject. and even though there has been a healthy amount of endless debates and casualties, it is with good reason: it is without a doubt the most important topic ever.

without further ado, these are the top 10 songs of all time.

1. everlong [foo fighters]
2. stairway to heaven [led zeppelin]
3. riders on the storm [the doors]
4. motorcycle drive by [third eye blind]
5. like a rolling stone [bob dylan]
6. paint it black [the rolling stones]
7. comfortably numb [pink floyd]
8. bohemian rhapsody [queen]
9. hotel california [the eagles]
10. a letter to elise [the cure]

if you have any disagreements with my list, feel free to post your own [inferior] top 10 list [or any comments in general], although i don't really know how anyone could possibly choose any differently after breathing in this list.

I will have more to say later, but for now... no possible way that the gay fighters should top the list. It's just not sane.

Also, you should allow all comments on the site. It makes it easier for everyone.

How can you possibly have a Top Ten List that doesn't include Lightning Crashes from Live?

Unbelievable.

i forgot i hadn't really offered a review of your list yet, so here it be:

Overall this is a good list, I think fair arguments can be made for the selection and placement of 8 of the 10. although everlong is a really good song, I think it's at best borderline top 10, and has no business being ranked ahead of stairway. the other song i'd call out, and we've already discussed this before in person, is motorcycle drive by. i'm not sure if that's even top 100.

i stand by everlong being #1, but i see your point about it. but as far as motorcycle drive by is concerned, i could actually write an entire post about that song. i also wonder if you have even heard it. i doubt that it would make a difference because of your spiteful ways, but give it a listen with an open mind if you haven't. you might actually like it more than you thought you would.

i've actually heard it many times. i heard it on your computer with you in the room probably 5 times at least. (you don't remember talking about "lower chelsea"?) but even if i hadn't, you overestimate how much spite i actually have. you've changed my mind on music before when i thought you had a better view (the strokes, for example). i actually do think it's a really good song. but at the same time, i also think that #4 is way too high. i think this is your mr. brightside.
